GIS hold the first PD Day for the year

{flike}

GIS held its first Professional Development day on the 2nd of February 2017. This year GIS too will follow the dates specified in the MoE academic calendar for professional development.

Initially the school did a SWOT  analysis to understand the needs of the teachers  and the school, and the activities were organised based on that.

A session on Learning Theories was taken to all teachers by the Principal. Since these theories are the conceptual framework of the learning process, it should be a fundamental part of the teachers’ knowledge  and refreshing this knowledge is vital for everyday teaching and learning.

A session on writing objectives in lesson preparation was carried to the grades by the respective Deputy Principals. GIS has always stressed on writing lesson objectives based on the different  levels of the Blooms’ Taxonomy and this year’s PD stressed on the need to concentrate on the higher levels of the taxonomy.

Since the primary grades started with the Cambridge curriculum this year, rethinking and rewriting the rubrics for the formative assessment process was an activity carried out with the grades 1 to 5 teachers by the ACCORs of these grades.

Furthermore, training and  refresher sessions on  OneNote and Class Notebook  were carried out to teachers by Mr. Wlson, Ms. Saroj, Ms. Seetha and Ms Banu . The final activity for the day was the BYOD training conducted by Mr. Wilson.

It was an immensely educational and productive day for all teachers
