CAPTURED

There was a faint smell of gasoline as I struggled to open my eyes. My hands were bound together and there was a big ball of cloth stuffed in my mouth. There was a lamp at the farthest corner of the room, which kept flickering.  The metal chair I was sitting on felt like it was digging through my skin but that was the least of my worries.

The metal next to me contained a variety of surgical tools but it was the chainsaw on the table which caught my eyes. A carpet of plastic wrap covered the length of the floor. It looked kind of clean except for a few specks of brown. My heart dropped as I realized it was probably blood.

The last thing I remembered was leaving the house to go grocery shopping. I wondered how long I had been here. Abruptly, I heard the laughter of a child and the buzz of what seem to be a television. I quickly glanced around to see if there were any windows. There were none. Maybe I was being confined in a basement. The wall facing me had words engraved on it. I strained my eyes to see what appeared to be names of random people whom I assumed fell victim to this cold hearted murderer.

The door creaked  and I heard slow deliberate footsteps: like a predator hunting its pray. I could feel my eyes watering up as a scream lingered at the back of my throat. Suddenly, the room filled up with green fumes. I fought against the venomous air until I couldn’t anymore. I could feel myself drifting far, far away.
