Dear Lamik,

How are you? I’ve been bearing with the chill winds of the upcoming final exams on my side. I bet you are equally liable to all this stress, considering how we both have finals next month.

Speaking of studies, I heard from Aunt Mary that you were not doing well with your recent written tests. I was worried sick, since you were always the one to have a grim time with studies, tracing back to middle school. Since I used to help you back in the day, it’s commonplace that I take it as my duty to help you with your next set of exams. So, I thought I would drop a line on study tips to get you going.

First off, an effective way to get back on track is to get support from your teachers, friends and family. I know you’re usually soft spoken, but please do inquire with your professors and clear any doubts you have with the subjects. Go ahead and get help from your brother or your friends for any difficulties with homework; it never hurts to ask for some extra help when you need it. Also, don’t be afraid to ask for support classes with your teachers if you find a subject particularly difficult to understand.

Next up, I suggest you work on organizing your study material. Don’t expect me to forget how diabolic your book shelf looked in middle school. Start filing your notes subject-wise, so that they can be easily accessible whenever needed. This saves a lot of time as you won’t have to scavenge for material right before exams. Schedule your days and plan ahead with study times. Do not take example from your brother, procrastinating and burning the midnight oil; allocate separate times for leisure. As a result, you will be able to work more efficiently.

Another point you can focus on are methods of studying. Search for new study techniques that suits your learning style. As you would know, I happen to find flashcards useful for learning definitions and difficult terms. Since you usually have hard time with understanding ideas, wall notes can help you etch concepts in your head, along with mind maps to break down larger concepts. Finally, I would strongly propose investing time with doing past papers, as they give you a general grasp of the subject.

In a nutshell, there’s a vast variety of ways you can combat studying hardships. I’m hoping that the tips I mentioned will aid you with your studies. Expecting superior results from you!

Love,

Juan

A well chiseled letter to a friend with relevant tips and suggestions. You have personalised your letter very skillfully and I also like the idiom used “burning midnight oil”, reminds me of my school days.
