Strictly Obey the Traffic Rules

1+

Are the roads of Male’ being used according to the rules and regulations? From what I have observed, there are two kinds of people: – people who follow the rules and regulations and people who do not follow the rules and regulations of the road.

Nowadays, there have been a lot of accidents due to traffic violations. While some people have been hospitalised, some others have lost their lives. From my observation, Majeedhee Magu, Ameenee Magu and Bodu Thakurufaanu Magu are the roads where most accidents happen, in Male’.

At Majeedhee Magu, there are lot of vehicles like cars, pick-ups, motorcycles, vans etc. This road is almost always busy. In this road a lot of pedestrians walk. Because of this, the traffic is mostly jammed around noon and by evening. On a few junctions, traffic lights do not exist, which makes it harder for it to not be jammed. In addition to this, there are many shops on the sidewalks. Lot of robberies and accidents happen on this road. There are also a lot of parked vehicles on the pavements which makes it harder for people to walk.

Let us now look at Ameenee Magu. On this road, the rate of vehicles and pedestrians is high. The parked vehicles are next to the pavement or in front of the pavement making it difficult for the pedestrians to cross the road or walk. Motorcycles are mainly parked near the pavement. Furthermore, the traffic is at a standstill mostly in the morning, noon and evening. A few accidents have happened on this road as well.

If we closely observe Bodu Thakurufaanu Magu, we would find many vehicles and pedestrians there too. This is the largest road of the three. Here, there are a lot people who do not adhere to the speed limit and are careless while driving. Due to this, a lot people have been victims of accidents. These accidents mostly lead to painful deaths. Also, there are quite a few drivers who are caught without license or with expired license, on this road.

I strongly believe that we can avoid all the deaths and dangerous accidents if only people would obey the traffic rules. A few things that we could do to gain control over the violation of the rules are to make them pay a huge fine if they break the rules. Similarly, the traffic police should be stricter with regards to the violation of traffic rules. We could wear safety gears for safety like helmets. We need to keep sign boards while we drive. Pedestrians need to make good use of the zebra crosses and pavements. Finally, proper punishment needs to be given to those who go against the law.
