GIS for the community

GIS for the community
As part of the GIS for the Community programme,
some students from Grade 8, 9 and 10 helped in the Maldives Half Marathon charity run organised by IRunners. The event was held on Friday 15th August. Students assisted in giving water to the runners and cheered and encouraged them. They also assisted in distributing medals to the participants and helped in cleaning the area after the event. Thank you, students, for a wonderful job.

An enlightening awareness session was held yesterday to emphasize the importance of protecting our oceans. With the support of Maldives Resilient Reefs, some students from grades 4-7 participated in the engaging and insightful event focused on ocean conservation.
The session began with a thought-provoking documentary by Sir David Attenborough, highlighting the dangers that oceans face due to human activities. Inspired by the message, students expressed their learning and creativity through impactful posters advocating for ocean protection. They also designed and created canvas bags to be donated, promoting sustainability and reducing plastic use.
We would like to thank Maldives Resilient Reefs for their effort in inspiring young minds to protect our oceans.
At GIS, we remain deeply committed to empowering our students to take action and protect the Oceans for future generations. 🌊🐟🦀
