A group of GIS students recently took part in a meaningful Community service event organized by the Plastic Free Foundation in partnership with Clean Maldives, as part of the global Plastic Free July initiative. The students contributed to cleaning the Industrial Zone, demonstrating their commitment to environmental sustainability and community engagement.
Through this hands-on experience, our students gained valuable insights into the impact of plastic pollution on ecosystems and the importance of collective action in preserving our environment, developing a deeper sense of responsibility, teamwork and environmental conservation.
We thank the organisers for the opportunity given to our students to be part of this impactful event.

An event under the slogan "A Campaign for Environmental Awareness" was held last Friday in Villigilli. The event was organized by 6C students along with their siblings and friends, in collaboration with Liquid Water Sports Villigilli.
Students organized a creative and impactful environmental awareness event by cleaning the beach and crafting unique mini art pieces which they hung near the beach area.
The purpose of this public display was to raise awareness among people about environmental issues, effectively using art as a medium for an important message.
It was a fantastic example of how young minds can spark meaningful conversations and inspire action for a healthier planet.

GIS Reboots Fruit & Veg Programme with a Fresh Kickoff!
After a one-year pause, GIS has officially relaunched its previous Fruit & Veg Programme, kicking off the initiative on Monday, 7th July 2025, during General Assembly time. The event marked a fresh start, filled with excitement and a renewed commitment to promoting healthy eating among students.
The kickoff featured a colourful welcome, with SMT and staff greeting students dressed in fruity and veggie-themed props, setting a cheerful tone for the months ahead. The school band and choir added to the cheerful atmosphere, performing a lively fruit & veg song. Fashala Association Student Leader Yoosuf Juzlan Shafeeu delivered an inspiring speech, highlighting the importance of the program and encouraging everyone to embrace the journey toward healthier habits.
Over the next six months, students will engage in a variety of fun and educational activities from tasting exotic fruits and conducting science experiments to creating healthy recipes, videos, and art projects. These activities will be integrated across subjects like Science, Math, Art, and Technology, making learning both meaningful and enjoyable.
To wrap up the kickoff, students received a fruit & veg cup to take home, reinforcing the programme's message in a delicious way.
