Children’s Day Fest at GIS

Children’s day is marked on the 10th of May every year. Today, on the 12th of May we marked this event with lots of surprises which also created joyful environment for all our students. The students were escorted through an adventurous tunnel and into the school compound where they were received by teachers dressed in different characters.
The day started with a special assembly; the School Deputy Captain expressed thoughts on behalf of all students. In her speech she highlighted that this event is observed across the world to celebrate childhood and promote awareness about children’s welfare. At this special assembly, our beloved Principal also wished the students a very happy children’s day and quoted;
“Every child counts at GIS and we want every child studying at GIS to know that you are valued, loved and molded to the highest standard. GIS is a brand and its quality is assured. Our products are free from manufacturing defects and we are sure you will always love GIS because we listen to you, we act upon your requests, we hardly say no to your wishes. We are revolving around your needs.”
Principal concluded his address by giving a very happy news to all the students that during this month, GIS will be introducing clubs for different sports such as basketball, netball, football, badminton and swimming so that students will get the opportunity to train and excel their skills in different sports.
The celebration was continued with activities, games, class party, teachers’ show and gifts for students. We are also proud to say that we had regular session for our students and created learning with a different style where students continued academics as well as got engaged in unit tests. Apart from all of this, one surprising item was the Children’s Day song composed and sung by our very own staff.
To add more colour to this fest, each parent offered a gift to his/her child to show that they always care for their children. This surprise gift was received by the students with great joy and along with the gift given from school, they went home believing that they are the hope for a brighter tomorrow.

My Family - My World: Family Day for Grade One
A Family Day by the name “My Family - My World” organised by the students, teachers and Grade Coordinator was held this evening at 1600 hrs. The main aim of holding such an event was to give the students the sense of involvement by their parents in their education. In addition, such events show students that their school work is important to their parents too and children feel happy when parents and families get personally involved in their education because this encourages them to do better in school and grow up to be more successful in life.
This event participated by 105 students of Grade One and their parents created a joyful environment and it was a great opportunity to strengthen the bond we have with the parents.
Management would like to thank all the parents for sparing time to attend this event and for being there to witness the skills the students are developing. At the same time, engaging in activities such as craftwork along with the children was a moment to to remember always.
GIS also thank all class teachers of Grade One, the subject teachers and the Grade Coordinator Ms. Shereen for managing the whole event so wonderfully. Also we would like to thank teachers of Grade 2 & 3 for the contribution given to make this event more colourful.
